ZOOM is a Serious Risk to Your Privacy

While the world has been isolated these past few weeks, the video-conferencing service Zoom has skyrocketed in popularity.πŸ“ˆ

However, with Zoom’s meteoric rise, it’s important for you to be aware that Zoom has MANY serious privacy and security vulnerabilities.Β πŸ˜±πŸš«πŸ”Ž

Here are just a few of Zoom’s privacy mishaps from the last 2 weeks:

April 13: 500,000 Zoom accounts sold on hacker forums

Due to Zoom’s security flaws, the U.S. Senate, Google, Apple, and other companies have banned employees from using the service,Β and multiple attorneys general are now investigating Zoom’s privacy practices:

One alternative solution is to use Apple’s FaceTime as much as you canΒ – make that your default for smaller group calls whenever possible. It does have its limitations – you can only have up to 32 participants, and as good as it is, FaceTime only works with Apple devices.Β But God bless Apple for respecting our privacy rights! 🍎

Another solution for 1:1 video chats is to use MeWe’s live voice/live video feature.Β This is standard for all MeWe Premium members and a la carte for $1.99 per month. You can find it in the MeWe Store. In the future we will expand this service for up to 50 participants, but that is a huge expense to provide, and MeWe is not yet a publicly-traded company like Zoom.Β πŸ’Έ

Here at MeWe, you and your privacy are #1.Β That’s why MeWe is the only social network with a Privacy Bill of Rights safeguarding you and your data. 🎯

We understand if you need to rely on Zoom for some of your video-calls during this unprecedented time, but please limit those and be careful.

For all your other online communication,Β MeWe is here for you. You are our customers to serve and respect, not data to target or sell.Β πŸ”β€πŸ€

No Ads, No Targeting, NO BS.Β πŸ‘

Let’s MeWe!Β πŸŽ‰πŸ™ŒπŸ
